Help & How It Works

Building your library is easy! There are two ways to add books:

Lending Your Books

Each book in your library has a lending status:

• 🌍 Anyone – Any Kybootl user can request to borrow
• 👋 Friends – Only your friends can request (default)
• 👥 Close Friends – Only close friends can request
• 🔒 Not Lending – Book is private, no one can request

Tap the lending icon on any book to cycle through these options.

The Borrowing Process

1. Request: Find a book in a friend’s library and click “Request to Borrow”
2. Approval: The owner reviews and approves (or declines) your request
3. Drop Off: The owner drops the book at a Swap Spot or arranges a handoff
4. Pickup: You pick up the book using the provided code
5. Read & Enjoy: Take your time! Default loan is 21 days
6. Return: Drop the book back at a Swap Spot when done

Swap Spots are partner coffee shops and local businesses where you can safely exchange books. They make lending easy even when schedules don’t align!

How Swap Spots Work

1. When approving a loan, select a Swap Spot as the pickup location
2. Drop the book at the Swap Spot and mark it as “Dropped Off”
3. The borrower receives a pickup code
4. The borrower visits the Swap Spot, gives the code, and picks up the book
5. When returning, the borrower drops it at any Swap Spot

Track what you’re reading right now! You can have up to 3 books in your “Currently Reading” list.

How It Works

1. Visit My Library
2. Click + Add Book in the Currently Reading section
3. Choose from books you own or are currently borrowing
4. The book appears on your library for friends to see

When You Finish

Click the × on a Currently Reading book and choose “Yes, I finished it!” to:

• Record your reading time in your stats
• Automatically mark the book as Read
• Earn 2 points for completing a book

Keep track of book series and discover which friends have the books you need!

Adding Books to Series

1. Go to a book in your library
2. Click + Add to Series
3. Search for an existing series or create a new one
4. Set the book’s position in the series (Book 1, 2, 3…)

My Series Page

The My Series page shows:

• Your progress in each series (e.g., “2 of 4 books”)
• Which books you own vs. which you’re missing
• Friends who have your missing books!

Earning Points

Plus bonus points for milestones like your first book, 10th friend, etc!

• 📖 Prolific Reader – Read 25+ books
• 🤝 Super Lender – Completed 10+ loans
• 📚 Library Builder – 100+ books in library

• 📚 Series Curator – Created 5+ series others use
